Petzl Carabiners

For many people, the word Petzl immediately brings to mind their iconic headlamps and head torches for hands-free lighting. But Petzl is much more than that, having three main specialties:
  • Headlamps and head torches
  • Work at height and rescue (safety in hard to access worksites/technical rescues); and
  • Vertical sports equipment (climbing, mountaineering, caving – yes, that includes carabiners!)

Petzl originated with founder Fernand Petzl’s passion for caving, but it has become so much more. Petzl is now a leading innovator in the vertical world and has been associated with all major underground, alpine and Himalyan adventures since the 1970s.

Its product range for vertical sports (mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, caving, via ferrata) includes harnesses, helmets, belay devices, descenders, carabiners, ice axes, crampons, anchors, pulleys, ascenders, packs and accessories.

Although headquartered in France, 80% of Petzel’s revenues from other countries. Petzel has revenues of 75 million euros per year and over 400 employees.
